Hola a todos,
Below is a list of suggested activities to practice for today. Please see google classroom for the same activities and for the workbooks. Next week I will be starting to outline activities WEEKLY instead of daily in order to provide you with some more flexibility in your schedule. I know working from home and teaching is quite the task! Please remember Alberta Education has outlined only 5 hours a week of academic work as of now. Please feel free to adapt that to your schedule and what works best for you and your child. Example: 1 hour for each week day, 2 hours one day and 3 the next, all five on one day. English: Continue to work on short a booklet and incorporate daily reading of books from your home library, raz kids or home reading. Also, please feel free to use this link for more books. Tumblebooks has lots of choices, with some stories being animated to help gain student interest. https://www.tumblebooklibrary.com/Home.aspx?categoryID=77 Username: calgarypl Password: ccssd Please write one journal entry with these sentence starters. I read the book called...I liked it because..My favorite part was.. Have them share details of the story in their own words by sounding out their words phonetically and using proper punctuation. ***Please remember that all students are at different levels of writing, some are able to write 5-6 sentences independently, some may need support writing three sentences. Please support your child accordingly.*** https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome.html Word Work Practice: Please continue and finish short vowel A workbook. If finished early, please start the first 2 pages of Short Vowel E workbook. These activities help our grade ones practice and apply their knowledge of letter sounds to make new words. It also helps them develop more confidence with sounding out their words and honing in on their spelling. Spanish: Try the second page of Spanish syllable practice workbook. It is asking them to cut, glue and write the two syllable words in Spanish using the syllables at the bottom of the page. They might know some words but there will be some words they are not sure how to say in Spanish. Please use google translate to help or email me. They have been practicing breaking apart Spanish words into syllables in class with my support, but not yet on their own. For those that need extra support, help them write the word first, then clap out the syllables and underline where the syllables are or highlight them with different colors. Then have them search for those pieces of the words and glue them on. Also, please try out one book in Spanish on Raz-Kids. Start with level A. There is an option for them to listen to the story first and then try reading it on their own. Math: Continue to work on the attachment located in google classroom entitled Unidad 3 Sumas y Restas and work on page 3 and 4 with the cubes. This page requires some problem solving. They need to think of 4 different ways to make five and write the number combinations beneath. They also need to show that number combination by coloring in the blocks with two different colors. (1+4, 4+1, 2+3, 3+2). Discuss each combination and how they equal the same number. Page 4 continues this practice but with the number 4 and 7. Suggested Interactive Activity: Play a board game that uses two dice where they have to add the two dice together and count and move around the board. A good example would be the game called Snakes and Ladders. Social: Read last story on page 23 of Social Booklet entitled Jessie Cares together. Discuss and answer the questions. Science: Please finish senses booklet with the missing page We will be starting on a new Science Unit later on this week entitled Building Things. This will be super fun and interactive for the grade ones! I was looking forward to working with them in class on this unit but I am sure they will have fun with you at home. Religion: Continue to explore unit 4 on link posted. Gracias! Sra. Colluney Hola a todos,

Hola a todos,
Please check your child's learn account email today and see if you can meet up with us in Google Meet Up tomorrow at 10:00am by clicking on the link in the email. I look forward to seeing you all then!! This will just be a practice to see how it works with everyone and a quick check-in. Thanks! Hola a todos, I hope everyone had a great weekend! At least the weather was a bit better so that everyone could get outside! Please see below a list of SUGGESTED activities for the core subjects. As per the email sent out by the school last Friday, Alberta Education has given us some guidelines of what at home learning will look like. For Kindergarten to grade 2, they have outlined 5 hours a week of academic work, which works out about 1 hour a day. They have also stated that activities should be focused around Literacy and Numeracy, and for our school district Religion and Spanish. Please see the attached day plan that outlines what a typical day of at-home learning might look like. I will also post this week a more detailed plan of what a typical day in my classroom would look like in regards to activities. Please send me pictures of the work they have completed so that I can keep up to date notes on their learning. I will also be starting video calls individually and as a class using Google Meet Ups which in the future will provide us with an easier way to discuss and show the work they have been doing at home. English: Continue to work on short a booklet and incorporate daily reading of books from your home library, raz kids or home reading. Also, please feel free to use this link for more books.
