Hola a todos, I hope everyone had a great weekend! At least the weather was a bit better so that everyone could get outside! Please see below a list of SUGGESTED activities for the core subjects. As per the email sent out by the school last Friday, Alberta Education has given us some guidelines of what at home learning will look like. For Kindergarten to grade 2, they have outlined 5 hours a week of academic work, which works out about 1 hour a day. They have also stated that activities should be focused around Literacy and Numeracy, and for our school district Religion and Spanish. Please see the attached day plan that outlines what a typical day of at-home learning might look like. I will also post this week a more detailed plan of what a typical day in my classroom would look like in regards to activities. Please send me pictures of the work they have completed so that I can keep up to date notes on their learning. I will also be starting video calls individually and as a class using Google Meet Ups which in the future will provide us with an easier way to discuss and show the work they have been doing at home. English: Continue to work on short a booklet and incorporate daily reading of books from your home library, raz kids or home reading. Also, please feel free to use this link for more books. Scholastic has some great choices. Please write one journal entry with these sentence starters. I read the book called...First...Then...In the end.. Have them retell the story in their own words by sounding out their words phonetically and using proper punctuation. ***Please remember that all students are at different levels of writing, some are able to write 5-6 sentences independently, some may need support writing three sentences. Please support your child accordingly.*** https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome.html Spanish: Access rockalingua and listen to Mi Familia. Choose one worksheet or game associated with the song to practice key vocabulary. Also, please try out one book in Spanish on Raz-Kids. Start with level A. There is an option for them to listen to the story first and then try reading it on their own. Math: Start to work on math attachment located in this post. Do the second page. If needing help (instructions are in Spanish) please email me or use google translate to help if you do not speak Spanish. Play a math card game like Card Battle (normal deck of cards). Ask your child how to play this game. It helps them practice number recall and identifying the bigger number. Social: Work on pages 3 and 4 of Social Unit Booklet entitled Be Honest and Do your Part. Science: Continue to work on Taking Care of Senses coloring booklet. Religion: Continue to explore unit 4 on link posted yesterday. Gracias! Sra. Colluney
